Karibiodiv referent (Haiti)Messerne chairs Maison Verte d’Haïti, an environmental association working in environmental education and promoting biodiversity and natural heritage.
Winner of the 2017 TOYP (Ten Most Outstanding Young People of the Year) competition in the environmental leadership category, organized by the Junior Chamber International of Haiti (JCI Haiti), Messerne SAGESSE, known as the Green Man, took his first steps in the artistic and literary fields.
A graduate in cultural administration and former actor at the National Theater of Haiti, Messerne is one of the actors in Port-au-Prince dimanche, January 4, a feature film by French director François Marthouret, based on an adaptation of Bicentenaire, a best-selling novel by Lyonel Trouillot.
A cultural organizer, he coordinated the “Théâtrophilie” Theater Festival in 2013 and co-founded the Northwest Haiti Book and Arts Festival (FLANOH). A writer and poet, he published “Gout rèv,” his first collection of poems, in 2013, and then “Feuilles de route, poèmes pour épouser la terre” (Roadmaps, Poems to Embrace the Earth) in August 2018.
A student in Natural Space Management, an ecologist, and founding president of Haiti’s first international environmental film festival, FESTIVAL CINECOLO-HAITI, created in 2015, the green man is exploring a new horizon for his country: ecology.
His actions aim to raise awareness among the Haitian population, particularly young people, about the challenges of the current ecological crisis and the need to lay the foundations for a Haitian ecological transition.
