SCEAU MATHURINE

SCEAU MATHURINE

Description

Located on the southwestern peninsula of the greenest region of Haiti, specifically in the south of the island about 10 km from the center of Camp Perrin, the Saut Mathurine waterfall is one of the most beautiful waterfalls in the Republic of Haiti. It is surrounded by lush vegetation and nestled at the foot of the Massif de la Hotte. The basin of water at the foot of the falls is a natural pool of fresh, clear water with a depth of approximately 100 feet.

Biodiversity

With an environment completely surrounded by vegetation, the Saut Mathurine waterfall is a paradise like no other for various animal and plant species. Its ecosystem forms an idyllic setting that makes this waterfall one of the most pleasant natural heritage sites to visit in Haiti. Rising in the Cavaillon River at an altitude of 90 feet and spanning about 100 feet, the Saut-Mathurine stands out among the largest waterfalls in Haiti. This natural wonder of the Caribbean is recognized as the largest waterfall in Haiti.

Ecotourism potential

The Saut Mathurine Waterfall is undoubtedly one of the most visited natural heritage sites in Haiti. In addition, its attractive environment and the welcome offered by the tourist office make you want to live there. Saut Mathurine’s ecotourism potential lies in the link between the local population and this beautiful gift of nature.
