Titou Gorge

Titou Gorge

Description

Titou Gorge, which translates as ‘little hole’ in French, is a gorge known for its pool coloured by the light streaming down from the top of the mountain.

It is just a 10-minute walk from the village of Laudat in Roseau.

It offers a refreshing swim through a series of water chambers and natural ponds formed by high, tree-covered cliffs.

Entrance to Titou Gorge

After a 5-minute swim, we find ourselves facing a waterfall fed by Freshwater Lake.

The walls of Titou gorge were formed when the molten lava cooled and separated here.

A hot spring also runs down a small wall just outside the entrance to the gorge.

Renowned for its originality and rugged beauty, Titou Gorge is the location where the bone-cage falling scene from Pirate of the Caribbean 2 was filmed.

Ecotourism potential

Titou Gorge is a natural spot that is easily accessible to everyone, provided they are good swimmers, and is sometimes popular with cruisers. To enjoy the calm and serenity that Titou Gorge has to offer, it’s best to visit the site in the early afternoon or after completing the hike to Boiling Lake.

With Titou Gorge at the start and return of this hike, you’ll be able to take advantage of it as a last dip before leaving a beautiful day in the forest.
